Founded in 2010, Macro Management Group was built by partners Jonathan Spadafora and James Reyes, two individuals with a collective 35 years managing high energy, service driven nightclubs, bars and restaurants.  Bound by a passion to create great customer experiences through a combination of compelling entertainment and attentive service, Macro Management Group has been very selective in choosing strategic partners, choosing to align only with organizations that share our passion for excellence and commitment to completing the job ethically.

 

Macro Management Group is a boutique hospitality consulting firm based in the center of the Nightlife Universe, Las Vegas NV.  Formed in 2010, Macro Management Group has since grown to include management and consulting agreements in cities across the globe..

 

Jonathan Spadafora, PARTNER 

Through the course of his career, Jonathan Spadafora has held management positions in various F&B operations, ranging from a mom and pop restaurant in Boulder CO to Director of Nightlife at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.  Starting on the food side of the operation, he quickly realized that his passion was for beverage, creating great cocktails and driving traffic to experience them.

Attending college at The University of Colorado, Jonathan had intentions of attending law school and one day practicing sports law.  When an assistant manager position at the small mexican restaurant he bartender at was offered to him during his junior year of college, he thought of responsibility excited him and took the position. Surprised to find that he loved the challenges of running a restaurant, Jonathan concentrated on the beverage side of the business, eventually being named the top bartender in Denver in the 2000 Bacardi O War of the Pour.

After college, Jonathan moved to Louisiana to marry the love of his life and start a family.  He accepted a job at Delta Downs casino, first as a bartender and shortly afterward in beverage management. The career took off and a year later the young family packed up the house and moved to New Jersey when Jonathan accepted a position opening The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.  Working with his mentor, the VP of F&B Victor Tiffany, he learned that quality is not negotiable and the only way to get there is to lead by example.  His career moved quickly on the East Coast, and 2 years after being promoted to the position of Director of Nightlife Operations for Borgata at the age of 26, the family moved once again, this time West as Jonathan accepted a position as General Manager of LAX Nightclub.

With a strong operational background already in place, Jonathan thrived in the competitive Las Vegas market.  Realizing that great operations can only go so far without a complimentary marketing program, he exposed himself to as many different philosophies and marketing practices as possible.  It is this unique understanding of both marketing and operations that allowed him to lead LAX to a position as one of the premiere destinations in Las Vegas during his tenure with the club.

In March of 2009, Jonathan left Pure Management Group to start Kitchen Sink Nightlife, a consulting firm built on his experience in marketing, operations and event planning, focused on helping businesses gain market share and realize their earnings potential.  In 2010, Jonathan joined forces with longtime competitor James Reyes to form Macro Management Group. Together Jonathan and James grew the company client list exponentially by focusing on high growth opportunities and sticking to their core belief that great service will always win out. In late 2013 Jonathan said goodbye to James as another opportunity arose. Taking the opportunity to utilize the change as a catalyst to improve the company’s focus on its core goals, 2014 has proven to be full of potential as the company continues to grow, seeking unique opportunities in markets around the globe.  Today Jonathan lives in Broomfield CO with his wife Sandi and their three amazing children.

 

Steven Kennedy, PARTNER

Boston native Steven Kennedy has successfully risen through the ranks in the entertainment and nightlife business in Las Vegas for more than a decade, where he has managed some of the Strip’s top multi-million dollar nightclubs. In 2013, Kennedy put that experience toward the creation of his first venture with the grand opening of FIZZ Las Vegas, the opulent champagne lounge and bar, at Caesars Palace.

The winner of the 10th Annual Hospitality Design Magazine Awards in the “Nightclub, Bar and Lounge” category, FIZZ has quickly developed a reputation as an exclusive A-list destination with celebrity guests like Katy Perry, John Mayer, Shania Twain, John Stamos, Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, Lance Bass and many more. Many of these celebrities are personal friends of Creative Director David Furnish, who has pieces from his own photography collection valued at $1.5 million with his partner, Sir Elton John, on display at the stylish venue.  

As co-owner, Kennedy utilizes his expertise in business, finance and hospitality management to oversee operations, manage the staff, and ensure a high-end experience for celebrities and FIZZ’s other discerning clientele.

Kennedy began his career as a mutual fund accountant and then transitioned from finance to entertainment when he took a job working with the House of Blues Corporation in 2002. In 2004, he accepted a position with the Light Group, opening and managing venues such as Mist Lounge, Caramel, Light and Jet Nightclub. Kennedy’s journey has led him through several senior-level positions such as operating partner for Polly Esther’s Nightclub at the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower, director of VIP services at LAX Nightclub and marketing and VIP services for TAO Group Las Vegas. He is now the owner of his own hospitality company, 33Group, a full-fledged, all-encompassing boutique concierge service that has the connections to handle the full planning of clients’ trips to Las Vegas – from hotel room stays to setting up VIP service at the hottest clubs in the city. Affiliates of the 33Group include Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Palms Casino Resort, Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International, Tropicana Las Vegas, TAO Group, Light Group, Chateau Nightclub & Rooftop and more.

In his free time, Kennedy enjoys traveling, experiencing new foods and watching his favorite hockey teams dominate the ice. 

 

Ryan Klaasen, Vice President of Operations

Ryan Klaasen's personable demeanor, creativity in problem solving and dedication to delivering the highest quality results have served him well in the fast paced and challenging world of business operations. With a strong knowledge of marketing, promotions, sales, accounting, human resources and streamlining business operations, Ryan has been responsible for building and developing some of the worlds top nightlife brands to include Tao Las Vegas, Lavo, Marquee Las Vegas and Hyde Bellagio, overseeing as many as 2,500 people.

After graduating from the University of Oregon in 1999, Ryan moved to Sin City and began working in the fast growing nightlife industry as a floor manager with rumjungle.  During a 7 year span with China Grill management, Ryan worked in all four China Grill properties to include Red Square, Rock Lobster, China Grill and rumjungle.  

In 2007, Ryan left China Grill Management and joined the Tao Group as a cocktail server manager at Tao Nightclub.  Within 11 months Ryan was promoted and named General Manager of Lavo Nightclub inside of the Palazzo Hotel and Casino.  As General Manager, Ryan created and developed all policies and procedures for the venue.  Ryan also worked hand in hand with the marketing team to conceptualize 6 nights of programming each week.  Six months after being promoted to General Manager, Ryan was again promoted to Director of VIP Services for Tao Nightclub, Lavo Nightclub and Tao Beach. As Director of VIP Services, Ryan oversaw a team of 40 VIP Hosts and 60 promoters that were responsible for $35-$40M in revenue annually. In 2010, Ryan was named General Manager of the Marquee Las Vegas project.  There Ryan was responsible for overseeing all nightlife departments and managing a team of people that changed the Las Vegas nightlife landscape.  In 2010, Marquee grossed $88M in revenue, raising the bar for nightlife expectations not only in Sin City, but worldwide.

After a 5 year run with the Tao Group, Ryan accepted a position with Las Vegas newcomers, sbe, as General Manager of Hyde Bellagio.  As General Manager, Ryan created policies and procedures and was responsible for the operations, marketing, accounting, VIP services, promotions and human resources.  After a successful opening, Ryan was quickly named Director of Nightlife Operations for sbe and opened Hotels, Restaurants and Nightclubs in Las Vegas, Miami and Los Angeles. In 2013, Hyde Bellagio was ranked the #9 highest grossing nightlife venue in the United States and the highest grossing nightlife venue in the country per square foot.  

Closing out a 4 year run with sbe, Ryan has joined forces with partners, Jon Spadafora and Steve Kennedy in Macro Management Group. With several projects on the horizon, the trio will apply their knowledge to all to continue the success they have achieved throughout their extensive careers. 

Cameron Spadafora, Director of TAHOE Operations  

Cameron attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado studying Business Management. He graduated in the top 15 percent of his class receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration concentrating in Management with certificates in Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship. After his junior year in college, Cameron enrolled in a 10-week internship with Macro Management Group learning all aspects of nightclub management. Within this internship, Cameron was placed in each position from bussing tables to the closing manager. Proving his capability and drive, Cameron accepted a position with Macro Management Group to start immediately after graduating college.

After graduating college, Cameron moved to Park City, Utah to open what would be Park City’s premier nightclub. Opening the club during the Sundance Film Festival proved to be challenging, but was very profitable. Working along side James Reyes and Jonathan Spadafora, he learned that to be truly successful you must submerge yourself in every aspect of the business. Cameron knew that his lack of experience would be no excuse, and proved himself over the next six months as a promising choice for a management role.

Cameron now lives in South Lake Tahoe, California managing a heavy hitting team of VIP Hosts in South Lake Tahoe’s, Peek Nightclub. He also is a managing partner of the Tahoe Club Crawl, leading a strong team of hosts and managers in a profiting new business.

James Reyes, RETIRED -

Former Light Group Vice President of Nightlife Operations, James Reyes, supervised all operations and management for the Light Group’s ten renowned Las Vegas nightclubs and lounges. Upon resigning from the Light Group, Reyes has focused on launching his own new Nightclub and Hospitality Development and Management Company, Macro Management Group. Reyes’ accomplishments directly reflect his extensive sixteen-year nightlife industry history. His experience, knowledge of the industry, access to networks of powerful and creative people, and proven track record of results, positioned Macro Management Group as leading contender in the competitive industry of Nightclubs, Hospitality and Entertainment.

His experience took Reyes from employee to business owner when he joined with Jon to create Macro Management Group.  While no longer an active participant in the firm, Reyes maintains vested in the continued success of the company.
